May Crowning Devotion: Thursday, 12 May at 1.15 pm
Our school children will show their devotion to Mary the Mother of God by crowning her image. The practice of depicting the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary with a crown first developed among Christians after the Council of Ephesus in 431 AD. During the 16th century the practice become widespread. By the middle of the last century almost every parish in the United States had May Crowning Devotions. While the devotions on 12 May will be led by the school children all parishioners are invited and encouraged to attend and take part.
