Gabriel Faure was a French composer who lived from 1845-1924. He lived in the Impressionist era of art and music, alongside Ravel, Debussey, Monet, Renoir and van Gogh. Faure was a church organist and composer. “Everything I managed to entertain by way of religious illusion I put into my Requiem, which moreover is dominated from beginning to end by a very human feeling of faith in eternal rest.\u201d This sense of peace and rest shines throughout Faure\u2019s liturgical work. On November 6th, Wednesday evening, at 7 pm we will observe the Mass of All Souls and use Faure\u2019s work throughout the Mass. The Requiem, being a funeral Mass, is a perfect match for an evening of remembering the souls of loved ones departed and those faithful souls in purgatory, for whom we are asked to pray as living Catholic members. Our Adult Choir, strings, horns, harp and organ will be a part of the music for this special evening of remembering and prayer. Those of the parish who have lost a loved one in the past year will also be present and a part of the evening in a heightened way.
